Ayo Labode is an attorney dedicated to helping individuals attain their
goals as they age. Ayo started her own law practice after working as an
Ombudsman, an advocate for individuals in nursing homes for over four
years. Ayo developed an
expertise surrounding housing issues such as:
selecting an assisted living or nursing homes; hospital discharge
planning; challenging nursing home discharges; medicaid planning and a fundamental respect for client autonomy and individual rights. Through her advocacy work Ayo learned about the difficult situations which may occur when people fail to communicate their wishes to their loved ones. One of
the most empowering acts any of us can do is to determine how we are
going to live. In addition to her legal education, Ayo also has a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration. Our health is often the most important fact to determine how we age; the choices that are available to us as we age; and our level of independence. Prior to
creating her own practice Ayo worked for the Federal Labor Relations
Authority, practicing labor law for seven years. In her years as an
attorney for the federal government Ayo had the opportunity to work
with variety of individuals from the civilian work force at several
military bases to unionized work force at Federal Aviation Association.
